FORTRAN - FORmula TRANslator was invented in 1955
LISP - LISt Processor was invented in 1958
COBOL - COmmon Business Oriented Language, created in 1959
Simula - the first language designed to support object-oriented programming, invented in the late 1960s
C, an early systems programming language, was created at Bell Labs between 1969 - 1973
Smalltalk the first complete ground-up design of an object-oriented language was created between 1972 - 1976
